Five tips to solve the grinding problem of abrasive belts

(1) The abrasive sanding belts are too soft

This problem generally occurs on the belt of animal glue, especially in the rainy season. Animal glue easily absorbs moisture and becomes soft and tacky. Therefore, in the rainy season or wet areas, the best choice is semi-resin or full resin binder abrasive sanding belts. It is not good to unpack the packing material of the belts to avoid excessive moisture absorption. If there are conditions, the animal glue belts may be dried after drying or drying, but the temperature should not be too high to avoid foaming or scorching of the glue layer.

(2) The abrasives of the sanding belts are easy to be blunt, but it will not fall off

When sanding belts are under grinding, if the contact wheel is too soft, the abrasive on the sand surface will not fall off, but it will not be sharp. If this happens, there are five solutions for option, 1:increase the grinding pressure, 2:replace with harder contact wheel 3:replace with wider gear wheel,4: replace with smaller diameter contact wheel, 5: reduce the linear speed of the abrasive belt, etc. Then the sharpness of the surface of belts can be achieved

(3) The abrasive particles of the abrasive belts are easy to remove sand and the base material is easy to expose

This is mainly because the abrasive particles are not well bonded so that the belt should be replaced. Either choose a softer contact wheel or a larger diameter contact wheel to increase the radius of curvature of the abrasive belt and reduce the grinding pressure or use a narrower gear wheel to increase the linear speed of the abrasive belt.

(4) Abrasives clog

The main reason is that the option of the sanding abrasive belt is not correct. If you are processing paint, you should choose a sand belt with a special coating. For example, If you use sanding belts for processing aluminum alloy, stainless steel, copper, and other soft metal materials, you should choose a water-resistant sand belt that is resistant to lubrication and coolant. When belts use to grinding wood and woodwork, black silicon carbide sanding belts or alumina oxide sanding belts are better.
